What is HypnoBirthing®?
The Mongan Method
HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method was created over twenty-five years ago by method founder, Marie Mongan. She realized that when fears in pregnancy are acknowledged and women supported by loving, calm partners, then pain in childbirth could be lessened or eliminated. Millions of families have utilized this process all over the world to help them have beautiful, calm and satisfying births.
This method was traditionally a “Natural Birth” method of Childbirth preparation, however, we know today that every family needs the helpful processing, planning and practice for birth that HypnoBirthing can offer. Through a very simple program of relaxation, self-hypnosis and education, families learn to release emotions tied to fear-based stories and misinformation. They are helped to see birth as normal and they learn to trust that their bodies know how to bring their babies into the world in a more calm and gentle way.
HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing. This amazing program teaches you, along with your birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner. You will learn how to call upon your body’s own natural ability to focus and relax and thus lessen, or even eliminate, discomfort. When a family is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony you and your partner can feel calm, confident and heard.
This class will begin by working on the “what to expects” of childbirth, normalizing the process for both partners as well as working on creating a plan for your ideal birth, together. We will delve into all normal aspects of a comprehensive childbirth education class; breathing, stages of labor, birth plans, natural childbirth vs pain relief options, medical interventions, coping techniques, and hands on partner support comfort measures. We will also work on a solid foundation of relaxation and breaking the Fear-Tension-Pain Cycle that can affect your birth in a negative way. Your Birth Companion will learn many useful tools and tips to help support the birthing mother. This class is ideal for anyone wishing to go in depth to learn about birthing, and those wanting to work closely with their partner to have a more satisfying birth.
With HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance or a sleep state; instead you will be alert, focused and profoundly relaxed. HypnoBirthing® will teach you the art of using your body’s own natural instincts to birth your baby in the manner that most mirrors the way nature intended.
